Hey,
Ive been having a problem recently when I try to move music from one folder to another. The CPU goes up relatively quickly up to 100%.

The music works when played off another pc/laptop/device from a memory stick and transfers fine on a different pc.

Its only certain folders affected. The music was transferred into these folders from a downloaded zip

This does not happen with photos, videos or any other file when im moving them about.

Ive booted in safe mode and the same thing happens.

Heres a CBS log in case thats of any use.

thanks for any help

Welcome to the forums Bloomy90. You say from a downloaded .zip? Have/did you scan for virus' before opening? For that matter have you scanned your system since? Both A/V and malware?

The issue can be related to third-party codecs or third-party components, espcially file system filter drivers, such as anti-virus drivers. You can boot the system into Safe Mode and have some tests. If Safe Mode works fine, you can then check the startup programs and loaded third-party services by running msconfig.

Hi guys, cheers for the welcome.

Yeah I scanned them for viruses, they were off major sites like beatport/juno so i thought a virus unlikely because these are big vendors. ive not got them off dodgy russian torrent sites or anything.

Yeah I try to scan every week using several tools. like 360 security/ADW etc.

I also booted in safe mode and the same problem occurred.

Ive run only essential programs on boot also through msconfig.

Could you be more specific on what tests in safe mode i should be doing?

Cheers for the help

Steve
