2 boot locations, partitioned disk with error 0x80070522

Hi,

A friend of mine is in dire need of help. Her computer has a 1tb hard drive that she is not able to use because every time she tries to save a file on C: she get error 0x80070522, I noticed also that when rebooting the computer boot screen comes up ( good 'ol MS DOS looking screen) that prompts to select one of two options, both named WINDOWS 7.
All her default save locations go to drive D:, which is also being used as System Backup, but of course is full. She's been relying in thumb drives to work, while she has a good size and mostly available HD.

What's my best course of action ? I want to backup, reformat & reinstall everything but she does not have the product keys for her software, the computer was set up by someone that's not around anymore. Good news is that she does have admin privileges (which makes the 0x80070522 more confusing)

I don't think this computer has been maintenance in the last 2 years. Not sure really where to start. I don't want to erase one of those systems boots and loose access to software.

All ideas are welcome

Post a maximized/resized screen print of Disk Management using these instructions:

Belarc Advisor should be able to get the keys for installed software.
Belarc - System Management For The Internet Age. Software license management, IT asset management, IT security audits and more.

You will need the Windows COA sticker key to clean install Windows 7.

I think 0x80070522 is a security/permissions error.
Do a google for 0x80070522 and see what you find.
Does she try to save data to the root of C ? If she does, why ?

I use Macrium Reflect free to create system image backups.

DavidE is correct it is a permissions error.
ALL systems have 3 user profiles
Admin
User
Guest.

from what you have/are experiencing would imply you are using the GUEST system profile, >>on login <<.
It has limited access, AND certainly will NOT have access to the "C" root

OF more interest is that she has 2 W7 options during boot
THIS IS WRONG, and more than likely the root cause of the problem
(note it also against the MS EULA terms)
As a workaround, try logging on as your standard user account or you could create another admin account

Neither of the above is really a long term answer.
From the ouput of the following we may be able to supply a permenant solution,
please copy/paste the results of the >>first<<,
DO NOT POST ANY OUTPUT FROM THE SECOND, just keep it on your desktop for the time being as it contains the complete product key.

To ensure that ALL data is preserved please use macrium reflect as previously advised.

Thanks, for the ideas guys.
I won't be able to see her until after the holidays as she went to see her family down south. She is on the older side so she didn't feel very comfortable doing it herself. I will get the key using Belarc and then Macrium for the backup. All I gotta do now is download the Win 7 SP1 and have the USB ready.... I'll get back when I get the info requested.

But to clarify, she was not able to use the C: drive at all, after I changed permissions she was able to use c: drive just not the root directory, which we don't have the need to modify so I didn't care, but I seemed to have issues when I was trying to install a printer driver, it kept on trying to install on D: and then it would just quit without even giving me a an error, it would stop installing anywhere between 20% and 55% of completion.

I'm hoping once we get rid of the extra bootable W7 I'll be able to consolidate and make c: default drive for everything and D: just system backup
