I sometimes get a bump sound from the speakers when i access certain websites followed by some video shudder (usually on my second screen only). I have an AMDRadeon HD5970 dual GPU card.

I am looking in device manager and see the following:

> AMD High Definition Audio Device
> VIA High Definition Audio

Should I disable the AMD device? As I think there may be a conflict.

Thanks

The AMD is for HDMI audio. The VIA is for your PC's "sound card". They won't conflict.

I can't say what is causing the problems. Occasionally I will get a glitch in audio when accessing some sites and its probably the media player, such as Flash, that many sites use.

The 'AMD High Definition Audio Device' only sends sound through either the HDMI or the Display Port cables on your GPU which can only be heard through built in speakers on your Monitor.

The ' VIA High Definition Audio' is your motherboards onboard sound chip.

If you only use one of these options then you should disable the other in Control Panel \ Sound \ Playback.
