Hello,

I have 2 SSD's (both samsung pro series) 128GB and 256GB and I run them in RAID0 through the onboard raid controller (ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3).
Now my problem is that when I go to my computer and chek the total GB storage it shows that I have 223GB in total. This would mean that I lost around 150GB of storage.
How does this work? And, is there anything I can do about it?

-Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

When you create a RAID 0 array with different size disks, its size will be twice the size of the smallest disk.

The smallest disk is the 128GB which is really only about 111.5 GB in Binary measure hence the total size shown as 223.GB

AAAH, that sounds legit, thanks alot! Now what would happen if i added another say 250gb ssd, would that mean three times the size off the smallest? so 333ishGB?

Yes, you are correct.

However two 256 GB drives in RAID 0 would be about 476.8GB

I have connect SSD's in RAID 0 and while they benchmark fast, I have not noticed any real speed increase in practical operations. I just stick with one drive for the operating system.

Yes, that is my same experience! allright, thanks for your help. I Guess i'll be undoing the RAID 0 and just use one for the OS, safesme 150GB of SSD storage...
Do I need to lock this thread or anything?

-cheers
