3 GB Memory Usage

I have Windows 7 x86 with 8 GB of RAM and I'mnot sure why I have so much memory usage. On my pictures, the first one is the processes using most memory and second is the Performance screen.

7 x86 can only use i think it's 3.5 gb of the ran you have installed. to use all 8 gb you need to run 64 bit.

No you don't. You have Windows 7 x64 with 8 GB of ram. The only way you see anything running process in Task Manager with a *32 after it is when the program in question is 32 bit, but running on 64 bit Windows.

As for the memory usage, looks perfectly normal for 64 bit Windows with 8 GB or ram.

71 processes seems like alot . my processes uses like 39 to 45. i'd look into that and see whats running that you
may not need to be running.

My god...seriously you have a ---- load of RAM, just let the fricken computer use it. Why else did you pay for it. I was I had that much RAM, seriously you people are driving me insane. Oh my computer/application/whatever is using all this RAM!!!!!!111eleven. If you do not want to use all the RAM remove from the computer...

Performance is enhanced when applications/OS use your RAM not the other way around. If they do not use RAM they are using the Hard Drive. You should be proud you are using as much RAM as you are. You have 8 fricken gigabytes of RAM, its not in short supply. So, stop watching/monitoring your RAM usage.

With Windows 7, Microsoft made a conscious effort to put your RAM to work. What is actually happening is that it is pre-caching in RAM the programs you open frequently, rather than depend on your poor HD to try and keep up. With the improved memory management in Win7 the RAM will become instantly available should a non-cached program need it.

This is not a commercial for Microsoft, just what I've found to be true from my own use (and a little research). I recently upgraded to 12GB of RAM (sorry, logicearth!) to take further advantage of this feature. :D

I have upgraded the memory from 6 GB to 8 GB and added a 16 GB SDHC card for Readyboost. Now the system has become snappy.

With due respect to Logicearth, I suggest he may add a memory card or USB flash (>4GB) which is cheaper nowadays as Readyboost to increase his system's performance.

If he is having performance issues with 8 GBs of RAM then, RAM is not the cause of his issues. I only have 2 GB, let me repeat that 2 Gigabytes worth of RAM, not once has it cause any significant issue having it constantly at 50%. If you are having performance issues...then something is terribly wrong with your computer.
