My problem is even worse, when i use the win7 "screen resolution" in the right click desktop menu, i CANNOT change the refresh to anything other than 30hz! If i do, it just changes back or doesn't change at all, no matter if i change even the resolution. Installing the Nvidia driver from the update helped, and using DXdiag my display IS at 60hz now.. yet only using 1280x720 because the monitor cannot use 30hz in this mode using NVcp. When in 1920x1080, it automatically reverts to 30hz..

I'm using a 7500LE (OEM) with a 1080p HDTV. Not sure where i would get the actual edid timings from.

IMO its just baby OS bugs, and nothing to be overly concerned about. As long as we can use it for now, and send reports etc then all will be fine in a month or two :geek:

It's an LCD ? If yes, you don't have to set any type of refresh. You have to change it only on CRT monitors.

Maybe you should test LCD monitors a little more before posting. Where have you gotten your info from anyway?? Maybe its in the tech specs or something yet in real world testing, you definitely do.. as with all Nvidia driver releases, you get a choice of resolutions with LCD monitors, ranging (with my LCDTV) from 50hz-60hz in anything upto 1440x900 and above its 25hz-60hz. With 50hz being used for PAL and 60hz being the faster and smoother NTSC.

The optimum resolution for my LCDTV is 1920x1080x60 (1080P) yet when i set it, it resets to 1920x1080x30.. which is half the number of lines as progressive and is interlaced using a sky box or similar. Setting this using a PC makes the screen very fuzzy (since there are half the number of lines on screen!) and unusable.. so for now, i have to stick with 1280x720 since the 30hz option isn't usable and sticks with the setting of progressive..

Its definitely that the OS driver (which i changed to LCD 1920x1080 for testing) or the OS itself cannot understand LCDTVs properly.

Apologies2absolute3d for my insensitivity.

Roy, i'm not 100% whether its 59.94hz or 60hz yet I do know my screen uses 1080p in other OS's.. and doesn't reset to only 30hz which is completely unusable.. i definitely prefer my screen in 1920x1080 with more windows on screen so I do hope MS fix this. At least every1 knows there is a 30hz in *some* LCD TVs being used with Win7..

and just to clarify *Higher frame rates, such as 1080p50 and 1080p60, could only be sent with more bandwidth* (taken from the wiki article on 1080p) I am still using the same connection, my £60 HDMI lead and £20 DVI-HDMI convertor as I was using with Vista, XP, Linux and my PS3. Reading further, I was wrong in my intial thinking about interlaced. Yet I am right that 30hz for a PC is unusabe yet my LCD and wire definitely displays 60hz, the fullHD signal.

Hi L1QU1D,

According to the release notes for the latest Vista WHQL driver (181.20) for your card, the resolution 1920 x 1080 is not mentioned at all. It does, however, mention 1280 x 720, but only at 16-bit and 8-bit colour depths.
That does not mean to say that your resolution isn't supported - it is, as you have found out, but only at a low frequency.
Going back to driver version 163.75, the resolution 1280 x 720 is not mentioned.
It would be a fair assumption that, since 1280 x 720 is now partially supported, support for 1920 x 1080 could be included in a forthcoming driver release.

Thanks Dwarf, and i thought it was Microsofts fault.. it worked perfectly fine as i said in Vista x64, so i'm sure nvidia will include it in subsequent releases! I'm using the 179.23 drivers..

Also, i'm definitely using 32bit colour..

You're welcome, L1QU1D. I know that, on my system, the native resolution of my monitor is not supported by the driver that ships with Vista (yes, I know that this forum is for W7 - I intend to install it as a multi-boot system this weekend). I can only use my monitor at its native resolution after I have installed the current WHQL driver from NVidia (I recommend WHQL drivers).
