I get the following on every startup:

"The NTRU TSS v1.2.1.29 TCS service depends on the TPM Base Services service which failed to start because of the following error:
The operation completed successfully"

On another forum, a responder suggested I delete from the registry the following hive: 555908d1-a6d7-4695-8e1e-26931d2012f4, butut he did not offer an explanation or discuss what was causing the error and I'm loath to mess with the registry until I understand the solution. He has not responded to a subsequent question asking for clarification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have TPM base services set to automatic. When I try to start the service manually, it tells me it will start on its own when needed. I've read all the MS articles on this and have tried all the steps they suggest.

Thank you.

Go to Start and type in "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Scroll down and locate the TPM Base Services service.
Let us know what the settings are that you can see there.
If it's not started, right click on it and select "Start" and see what error that it gives.

Do you know if your Dell supports the TPM module in it's hardware? I just reinstalled XP on my brothers laptop and we didn't install any of the TPM stuff and the laptop is working fine (it's not a mission critical system).

In services, the status of TPM Base services is blank. When I start it, I get the following dialog: "The TPM Base Services service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." I don't know whether Dell does, or does not, support the TPM module. I'm on an Optiplex 980 Win7/64 machine. Thanks for trying to help with this. PS: TPM Base Services is set to "automatic." And it is listed under local service. Says it enables access to the trusted platform module.
