More details

Apologies for not presenting my problem in proper form. I've run SURT, and SFC scan several times. I've tried repairing Windows, but my original disk says current Windows with SP1 newer and therefore won't repair. I've tried repairing with downloaded Windows 7 pro SP1 disk but this won't work. I've tried System Update Readiness tool, and run chkdsk.

I've uploaded a file - uptaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder uptaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

That's OK -
First do a new Check for Updates, and attempt to install ONLY the oldest one found.
If it fails, post the KB Number and the error code

Thanks a lot. But I'm not sure "about attempt to install ONLY the oldest one". There were two as usual, one important one optional. I tried the important one, as usual, with the same result as before. Then I successfully installed the optional one, KB2310138 102kb.-- perhaps I shouldn't have done that?
Now I'm back again with Code 8024200D.

I followed kalebaustin advice, but same result: update won't load: error 8024200D.
Also, I said #11 that the optional update KB2310138 102kb had loaded. It hasn't loaded either (now 866kb), I now discover.

The problem is not yet solved, but I have to go away and leave my computer for four days. Many thanks to NoelDP for progress so far, and also to kalebaustin.
