Solved 93 files corrupted or missing from Registry

My registry went corrupted after a windows update in August of 2013. I tried to do sfc /scannow, stopped at 11% and didn't work. I tired to open services that also didn't work. I also tried to do a system restore, i did one restore and it wiped out my other restore points. I still have 93 files corrupted or missing from my registry.

I don't know what to do know. I really do not want to take it to a technician or re install windows 7. I have windows 7 home premium 64x OEM, No i do not have the recovery CD or the OS CD.

Since system restore acts strangely and since you have a lot of problems ... I advise you to do a repair install. You have a valid license key (see COA sticker most likely on back of laptop/desktop)?

Stop downloading and running Registry fix and PC speed-up programs.
They do nothing but corrupt the Windows 7 Registry and most likely included key loggers and/or adware.

I concur with Kaktussoft. Try a repair install first. Once you're up and running, run your AV scan.

OEM disc and retail win7 install DVD are actually the same (not exactly). It's the product key that's the problem. An OEM key may be used only on 1 pc.... most of the time used to install win7 when you buy a laptop with win7 preinstalled.

Thanks, i just wanna double check, How do i check if my product key is valid. It is at the bottom of my computer. but when i do the repair and put in my key will it deny it because It is already in use or will it pass by and give me an ok.

If you read and do Repair Install ... you're actually doing a upgrade install. you're installing win7 HP over win7 HP. But all information is in tutorial.

The key on the COA is different then the key that windows is using now. You can use the key on the COA over and over and over again on that pc.

I got a problem, My Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool isn't detecting my USB. MY USB has 16GB free on it. I did not extract the ISO file i downloaded though.


I found the problem. MY USB is SanDisk and it is showing up as a hard disc drive not a removable device

I'm getting really mad about this, i just bought this USB drive and thought i was gonna do this repair today but now i have to spend my thanksgiving tomorrow finding a store that is open and buying a new USB. I don't want to run into the same porblem again,

So what USB brands are bootable and will run a OS

You can`t boot windows 7 from a flash drive.

Unless that`s not what you`re doing.

But you should be able to use any flash drive at least 4 GBs to install windows 7.

I take it you don`t have a dvd burner to burn the iso to dvd, much easier to install windows with a dvd for a novice.

Ok now I'm going insane, I went to the store got a different USB and i made it bootable. When i ran the ISO file from the USB and pressed Install now on the window that appeared, It said it couldn't complete the action because i was missing the WININET.dll file. is it time for the clean install?

Take it easy man ... you want to do a repair install isn't it? No need to make to usb stick bootable.

1. extract the ISO (with winrar, or the usb/dvd tool) and put the files in a empty folder. That folder can be on disk or usb.
2. run setup.exe from that folder

What ISO did you use, where did you get it from?
Sure you did download it succesfully? Sure you did extract it succesfully to an empty folder?

I used Wind 7 hope premium 64x( one you posted for me)
I'm positive that it was successfully downloaded.
