I also looked in the directory and did not find it either. I did find x86_microsoft-windows-ie-iecompat_31bf3856ad364e35_8.0.7601.17514_none_bdb13999062e3561. Should I try this in the commands instead?

The results lately have been because of a lack of understanding on my part :o - not because of a system problem.

I can't claim any greater background knowledge now - so feel free to cry 'Uncle' and do a repair install!

To a large extent, what little I know about this type of error is that it involves either missing permissions or missing required folders.
I'll have to review the entire thread, and see what I can (hopefully) discover from the logs available.

Somewhere, there should be a cluestick that I can pounce on and chew into submission! :)

Not a problem. This is an issue with an image that was built before I started the job. It only happens on this model of computer that we have, so I figured that it was a corrupted file somewhere. I wouldn't have gotten this far! I tried all that I could before I posted so I have exhausted my level of knowledge. So all of your help is greatly appreciated!!

Let's check a few permissions things, and reset some at the same time



Open Windows Explorer (Computer)
Navigate to the C:\Windows folder and right-click on it
select Properties

Clear the 'blob' from the 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)' box by clicking on it until it's plain white.
Click on Apply.

Make sure that the radio button for 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' is set, and click OK.

Accept the Administrator prompt. After a couple of seconds, you'll be told there is an error - click on the 'Ignore all' button.

Wait for it to finish - it could take a couple of minutes.

OK out, and exit Windows Explorer.

Reboot twice

Now open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

SC SDSHOW TrustedInstaller
SC SDSHOW BITS
SC SDSHOW WUAUSERV

post the results.
