A way to query standby state?

I have Win7 Pro x64, and usually I reboot my pc only once a month and use S3 standby if I won't use it. My computer is set to put to sleep after 25 minutes.

Sometimes randomly a after days/weeks my PC will no longer go into Standby by himself if the computer is idle.

I'm no programmer but I suspect somekind of app set a flag to keep the system alive and forgot to clear this flag.
I wonder if there is a app that allows me to query the OS state and remove the flag.
I hate when I go to work, get home and realize that my PC was running nonstop the last 9 hours.

I understand your question and I suggest an alternative scenario. When your computer is set for sleep it does go to sleep or begins to and that juncture it wakes. I may or may not be correct, but you can find out. When you think that a problem has just happened, type this in an adminstrative cmd prompt* powercfg -lastwake from

It will tell you what just woke your computer, usually the NIC card, but can be the mouse or keyboard.

*type cmd in search do not hit enter. Right click then run as administrator.

If I am wrong, I hope that you picked up a little trick that you were not aware of.
