Am I right in assuming you dont need to manually defrag Wind 7, it will do it automatically once a week if needed? Just want to make sure. Thanks

The default schedule is once a week. That will typically keep your fragmentation percentage under 5%. You can check to confirm the schedule or to change it--I think the default is every Wednesday?

Plenty good enough unless you consider yourself to be obsessive.

Make sure it's set to run when your computer is on. I think the default is the middle of the night.

Ok something weird, I went to the Disk Defragmenter, and when I clicked on Analyze, next to OS(C: its saying 34% analyzed, and has been at 34% now for well over 2 hours, seems like it just stopped. I have never opened that before so not too sure if that should take that long.

That's strange. Stop the defrag and try again.

I've never had the "analysis" function take more than 1 minute or so.

Might be worth running chkdsk on the drive.

I was able to by opening the disk defragmenter. Since this is all new to me, I will let someone else add their input.
