Hallo,

How do i get access (i´d like to replace a file) to this dir:

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_netfx-mscorwks_dll_b03f5f7f11d50a3a_6.1.7601.17514_none_bf0c7965d70a0677

I tried the "take ownership" tweak from this forum, i set the appropriate rights but i still can´t copy a file to that dir. Thanks for your help,

Ingo

Well, typically to access a folder that does not belong to you you need to take ownership and then assign yourself full access permissions. On the other hand, messing with permissions of system files is usually not recommended for obvious reasons. If you did that and still can't replace the file - the folder you mention contains only one file in my system, mscorwks.dll, which is part of .Net - then you probably did not check the box "apply changes to all objects and subfolders" (not the precise title, but you get the idea). Just check the permissions on the file itself, as well as the folder.

What I am puzzled by is why do you want to replace this file in this location?

You should not be messing with anything in the winsxs folder!

That is not how you make the application work...items in the Winsxs are not used by the system directly. Even if you were able to add or replace files in there it won't do a thing.
