Hi,

I recently installed windows 7 32 bit and was browsing thru security settings for my drive D (partition). i accidentally removed permission for 'authenticated users', and now getting error "access is denied" for this drive, and I'm using the enabled admin account in windows 7.

All my important files are stored on this drive and need your help accessing them badly.

Your assistance will be appreciated.

unfortunately I know from experience system restore doesn't seem to fix this problem. You should be able to copy authenticated users back into the permissions though.

Access your files after removing permission for authenticated user

Hello,

Here is an workaround for your issue, in order to access any of your files from the "messed up" drive :-) you can use a linux live CD (I've used last version of Ubuntu). So, from linux you can access the files and copy them to another location where you have proper rights.

Hope this helps,

have you tried doing this in safe mode?
sharing and security -->Permission-->Advance-->Owner-->select the user you want to apply access right's and then check "Replace owner" apply and ok, this must be used for you.

The replace owner step is important.
