I was wondering if anyone knows how to add the "Dim the Display" feature to a desktop?

I found a utility called "Pangolin Screen Brightness" that allows you to do it manually, so I know it's possible, but can't find anything that can add that option to the power settings.

Any help's appreciated..

Thanks!

Not quite sure what you mean? Windows 7 is already capable of dimming your display after a set amount of idle time.
Just go to Control Panel -> Power Options, and click on Change plan settings next to the active power scheme. The next screen allows you to set the time until the display is dimmed, and by clicking on Change advanced power settings you can adjust the percentage of full brightness that you want.

Thanks for your reply, but that's the problem.

The "dim the display" feature isn't there. Only "when to turn off the display" and "when to go to sleep".

Desktops and External monitors do not normally have an interface to control that aspect of the monitor. Thus what you are asking for is impossible. The "Pangolin Screen Brightness" program does not actually change the brightness level, it changes how light or dark the colors are, creating the illusion of dimming.

I've got to pay more attention when reading. Missed the work DESKTOP and automatically assumed the OP was working with a laptop.

Actually, this could be done using tasks. If your video driver supports color management, that is. What graphics card/driver do you have installed ?
