Hi - I removed the DVD drive and installed a 2nd SSD and now when I boot a screen quickly flashes up about RAID configuration. The PC goes on to start up and work perfectly (including now having the 2nd SSD as drive D:\
So the RAID config pop up is only a very small inconvenience but i wonder if there a way to get rid off this, since I'm not using and have never used RAID.
While the RAID screen is quickly displaying you can hit Ctl-I and pull up some info and it says that RAID is disabled for both the C:\ and new D:\ drives.

I went into the BIOS set up and went to the SATA operation options and get this;
INTEL Rapid storage technology Option ROM 11.2.21527
1. Create RAID Volume 4. Recovery Volume Options
2. Delete RAID Volume 5. Acceleration Option
3. Reset Disks to Non-Raid 6. Exit

# 3 "Reset Disks to Non Raid" seems tempting but obviously don't want to screw up my Win7 installation (and other files)...

Also from the BIOS SATA set up page it allows me to change the radio button which is set to RAID and change it to Disabled, ATA or AHCI - setting it to Disabled stops the PC from booting and trying either ATA or AHCI Windows starts to try to boot but after some seconds I get a quick BSOD and the PC starts to try booting again...

Hope some one can give me some direction on if and how I can stop that RID screen from popping up during boot - and make sure I have everything config'd properly now that i have the 2nd SSD installed.

Many thanks and best regards.

Since entering BIOS and switching off RAID (enable AHCI) did not work, then I'd assume you have some sort of RAID setup.

You could generate an INTEL RST system report. To generate an Intel RST system report, Boot into Windows, and open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology user interface (Start > Programs > Intel > Intel Rapid Storage Technology).
Then click the Help icon.
Click the System Report icon.
Click Save.
Upload the report to the Forum, and someone will take a look at identifying which sort of RAID you have got.

Thanks - appreciate the help - but hmmmm, I don't see any such program for Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I can find programs for Inte'ls HD Graphics and PROSET Wireless tools, and even searching for anything to do with RAID in the Program Files I don't see anything related to Intel Raid...

I can find in Device Manger under Storage Controller Intel ICH8M/EICH8M-E SATA Raid Controller - (device is working properly) - but not sure where to go from there...

I'll reboot my machine later and see if I can track something down through the BIOS...
