Adwcleaner

Hi all
I installed the latest version of adwcleaner and now its messed up my IE
when i launch IE it pops up saying IE isnt working then it shuts down.
Was working fine before i installed the new version.
Can someone help me ?

Hi:

Did you reboot when AdwCleaner prompted to do so?
Perhaps you can post the log from AdwCleaner, to see what it removed?
(It will be AdwCleanerC*.txt, where * is the number of completed scans -- in your case, it will probably 1, if this is the first time your ran it.)

Yes, a system restore might work.

Yep Moxie assuming the machine was rebooted after ADW it should have popped up the findings and yes it would be good to see what they were - good suggestion

before trying anything else too dramatic, (such as a system restore), try this:
Open the run command (Win+R)
type inetcpl.cpl (hit enter)
go to the advanced tab
click the bottom right button to reset IE to factory settings
let it do it's thing, click ok, try IE now. . .

Hmm well I would have thought a factory restore would be a tad more drastic than a system restore as you would need you have just about everything backed up??

Ok Roy I recently Googled for the latest version and got that site otherwise I have always used the bleeping site

Now this is very interesting as I used Jacees link as opposed to the one I have stored in a document and I get this message which redirects me to the site I linked?? see pic and if you run it it is by Xplode??

Without trying to derail this thread, I will say I get the same thing when trying to run it from your previous link to BC.

The link from BC downloads fine, it's when running it that happens.

It first warns about not being signed then when I run it it says it's out of date and if you click to get the updated version it goes to toolslib.

I noticed it yesterday and it just did it again when I tried it here

No not trying to do that was curious because I was being linked to toolibs.

Yes I think I have found what is going on my Toshiba laptop which I am sure was infected with whatever did that toolibs thing and my home main laptop and the other desktops the bleeping link did what it is supposed to do.

So I have clean installed the Toshiba and will see when I get chance to see whatever happens.

Sorry OP (Matty) for the diversion it has a fix for me at least and avoided another unnecessary thread.

I was pointing out that the same thing happens with me John, so I doubt it was an infection.

Don't know Derek the machine has gone ape over the last few days BSOD's I cannot find etc Anyway am setting up fresh with the original Pro version from the ISO I saved

So all is well.
