ATX: Asus M5A99XEVO
CPU: AMD FX-6200 3.8 GHz (OC 4.2 GHz/4.4Ghz Turbo)
CPU Cooler: Corsair A70
GPU: Asus Radeon HD 7870 Direct CUII
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GBx2 1600MHz

When I overclock my CPU the aero effects turns off about a minute later. I use AMD Overdrive software for overclocking and the tempratures are 10 degrees celsius on IDLE and 25-30 on load (playing high-res games or rendering videos) Does anyone know why the aero effects turn off, and is there a way to fix this?

What are these the temps of? Those are cold temps, like refrigeration temps.
If you find a stable setting with Overdrive, go into BIOS and make the same settings. OD can muck you up.

The way AMD processors output temperature is misleading. Your CPU is not running at 10° C That would be impossible. The CPU cannot run colder then the ambient temperature. More then likely the output is a temperature offset meant to be added to ambient temperature.

i know im late but i took the same journey and finally came up with this
1. Start, type cmd, right click, Run as Administrator.
‪2. Type bcdedit /set useplatformclock true and press enter.
‪3. Type bcdedit /enum and press enter.
‪4. Verify that useplatformclock is on/true.
‪5. Restart the computer then test aero issue. and all was well again

I too came across the aero shutting itself off during overclocking trials. Could someone elaborate on what these two commands will accomplish? I know the first will turn on HPET if its not already turned on, I checked and mines is enabled, but what does the second command do exactly, and how would this fix the aero issue? Although I haven't ran into this issue after I set every M.I.T value to manual and input the correct voltages etc etc. Would still like to know if this is even OC related.

The bcdedit /enum command simply displays (enumerates) the current BCD operating settings. You run this command to make sure the first command worked properly.

Temporarily Mad, thanks, that did the trick for me. It was driving me nuts, finally narrowed it down to AMD Overdrive so at least I knew what to Google for.

add more voltage or reduce the OC. it means your OC is not stable. my 3770k does that too.

I had the same issue with AMD Overdrive inside Catalyst Control Center (but not with AMD Overdrive standalone app) with CPU Overdrive option.
After I set a higher clock, aero got disabled and performance degraded.

Today I found that I had to adjust the clock multiplier in BIOS setup to match the clock rates set in Overdrive.
Now Aero got back and performance increased as expected.

Another thing I found is that if I set clock multiplier only in BIOS, but not in CCC, the CPU clock rate increase only when using single core applications, or in disabled cool n quiet mode. Since I need cool n quiet, this is unacceptable for me.

This is releated to Turbo Core technology.
In my example with my AMD FX-8320: Battlefield 3 uses only 4 cores, so my CPU clocks at 3.5Ghz when playing. No matter if I set stock (3.5ghz) or increased (3.9ghz) clocks in the bios. This clock is pre-set somehow for 4 core processing. (higher for 2 cores, lower for 8 cores. This is normal AMD behaviour)
Since I set 3900Mhz in CCC and the same in the BIOS I could solve this issue and my CPU runs 3.9ghz while playing, and Aero is also working. Also Cool'n'Quiet also works so power consumption is normal all the time.

A CPU overclock and CCC are entirely separate and one has nothing to do with the other. CCC affects the graphics card and BIOS affects the CPU overclock. You can overclock one without the other. If you have services and/or programs shutting down on an overclock, the overclock is not stable, plain and simple.
