hi,
i'm new here and i know very little about Windows 7 Enterprise x64. I just migrated in and everything seemed to be going awesome. until I noticed that my taskbar is not in aero mode when my display option is on my laptop only, to be specific it's on "disconnect projector". however when i changed to dual or clone display, the aero works. I've checked the Windows Experience index, while on "disconnect projector" display, and there is no option to enable aero at all. I would like to know if there is something wrong with my system or if i'm just not doing something right.

Hi Stanley, welcome to Seven Forums.

Give this a go:
When Aero isn't working, right click your desktop and click "Personalise" at the bottom of the window that comes up, you will see an option that says "Troubleshoot Aero and other Transparency errors" (or something like that, can't remember the exact wording, and cant look as my Aero is working fine)

This will run the Aero Troubleshooter. It should at least, give you an idea of what is wrong and it may even fix it for you.

Post back with results.

hey Severedsolo,
i did what you said and for a while it was fixed... then my it went back to becoming a solid blue-ish color and my laptop screen is going crazy. The brightness is changing every second and my energy adjustment is changing settings/profiles by itself. what do i do?

That's odd....

Did you happen to see what the Troubleshooter said was wrong with Aero?

The Energy Profile's shouldn't be changing by themselves, that actually sounds to me like a loose connection in the power adapter. Is everything properly inserted? Does the problem stop if you unplug the laptop from the mains?

i was not able to see what problem, but i'm pretty sure i saw the yellow triangle icon. I restarted my system after trying it one more time. after the restart everything was back, including the taskbar. the power supply was properly inserted.

Next time it happen's (if it happen's again) run the Troubleshooter again and make a note of what it say's is wrong.

I suspect it was probably the DWM but that is purely a guess.

There could be any number of thing's and I wouldn't like to give you information on a guess.

Thanks for filling out your system specs. As it is a laptop can I assume it is an OEM build? (ie you bought it from a shop) what brand and model is it?

I have filled out the information you needed. I have to say that Speccy is a neat tool. Never knew about it.
The troubleshooter did not or could not switch DWM back on. Do I do it manually?
