I want to reduce the message box font outter overlay effect, does anyone know how?

Open Start-> Type Change Windows Colors and Metrics->Active Title Bar (from the drop down list)...change the font size

I believe this is what you are seeking

In addition to Chris's post above. You can do that in Advanced Appearance settings.

Both solutions couldn't do what I wanted i'll explain it better.

I've got no problem with the "active window font size" I want to change the "outer font white overlay effect" i.e. the white around the font.

Oh...I see

Maybe someone in the GFX team could assist you better with that...that is going to require modifing some bitmaps concering the taskbars

any chance of getting a tweaked aero theme with various user requested changes? like - different taskbar buttons colour (ie not white) those are the two biggest things that bug me with the aero theme

does this not bug anyone else? :*(

There's a theme on deviantART: where ART meets application! called Soft7 you may like. You have to replace system files though.

Soft7 1.6 for Windows 7 by ~AP-GRAPHIK on deviantART

I have the same problem with Windows 7 Aero themes that Annabrand does . Its the taskbar button white text font and the white blur at the top of the taskbar that is hard to read. I dont have this issue on the same PC with Vista Aero. None of the theme modifications that I have seen change the white font and blur issue on the taskbar. The theme mod quoted by torrentg, Soft7 1.6 for Windows 7 by ~AP-GRAPHIK on deviantART is no different. The only solution that I can see at this point is to use a classic theme, which I shouldn't have to do .

Ah alright. Ya, bouncer on IRC (a.k.a. bnc) is how people hide their ips on IRC.

Not, you are not alone. On the forums I frequent many people have complained about the white blur behind the active title bar text as well as the white task bar button colors. I want to be able to adjust my task bar button color from white to anything better as well as remove that blur from behind the text on the title bar.

Forgive me for carrying on this thread but I feel it so unresolved personally & it bugs me greatly for what is overwise a very good theme.

Why am I unable to get this style text graphics for active window font. If I choose white for the active window it still keeps that cursed ugly outer overlay blur. Like so..

Terrible.

Is it that this can only be changed by a total conversion theme requiring me to mess around with my system files and potentially damaging my os, which Im unwilling todo, and also nobody has yet to produce a theme Im happy with.

Kind of a vent sorry chaps. Overall this is a very small thing.

Right now this is the closest thing to a alternative solution, however Im not a fan of the theme in general, good though not quite what I like. It just masks the text problem. The active window is fairly good.

That theme is by our member sergiogarcia9...contact him and I albeit he will give you just the overlay replacement so you can modify the default AERO theme to use it

Just noticed this thread You see i didnt do the original explorer frame It is from Dark7mix by adrianodj25. Since red fusion was my first ever theme made that way, i based it on the dark7mix theme.

bumping this kind of old thread as its still an issue for me, i havent used aero because of it.

ive seen alot of themes btw inc ones from windowsblind none of them satisfy me. All im looking for is aero theme without the outer overlay on the black font or reduced outer overlay strength.

even better the font could be white and have no overlay at all.

How about this? The glow around the text & or the reflections in the frame can be removed with Windows Style Builder If you are using the stock Aero theme I can do it for you If it's a custom theme you need to ask the maker.
