Hey everyone,

trying sfc/ scannow but does anyone else know how to fix this
i think uninstalling word will be the only way

In addition to the good advice posted by Orbital Shark:

1) Assuming you have other User Profiles on your machine, have you checked to see if this problem occurs in them? I would check this 1st just to verify if this is a problem confined to your user account or a system wide issue.

2) In the unlikely event that you have no other users on your machine, it would be interesting if you created one to see if it occurs in that one as well.

If the problem does not occur in other user accounts, you can either create a new user account ( Create a user account ) or (simpler) perform a System Restore predating your problem (if you have restore points that go back that far), as per the Tutorial here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

If the problem occurs in all accounts, System Restore may be your only option (assuming that Orbital Shark's suggestions do not fix the problem), unless, of course, someone here comes up with a solution that works.

Thank you Orbital Shark! The LNK file association fix did the job for me, too!

Everything opens in Word

Everything is opening in Word. EVERYTHING. Every time I try to open ANYTHING (command prompt included) Word opens. I'm amazingly lucky to have gotten to this. Nothing works, except Word. If I only worked in Word, life would be beautiful. Can't download any fixes because they try to open in word. Can't find the extensions to change. Laptop won't let me do a system restore.
