All updates are failing on Windows 7 with error 8007045D

I suggest you may want to post your SRT issue as a separate thread, because my original post has a specific issue and it still is.
Windows update is failing still with same error code.

I don't have issue with running SRT I have run it multiple times with same issue cannot update Windows.

Also, mine is a Genuine Windows 7 Dell laptop bought at BestBuy.

It is really frustrating with this error.

OK I downloaded the SRT for Win 7 x86 and it is running. Boy my system is really hosed i guess since i am running an x64 version of windows 7. The SRT for x64 says invalid data though... Go figure

TTRON,

Please follow HCurry's suggestion and post your problem as a completely separate thread. Please do no usurp, hijack or tie on to another thread.

such actions only cause confusion and ill-feelings.

We appreciate your consideration in this matter.

HCurry,
I'm afraid that in with all of the posts here that your submission of the files that Niemero requested may have been overlooked by him.

In the meantime,
please run the fixit mentioned in this Knowledgebase Article. Run first the default mode. If that doesn't solve the problem, then run again but this time with the Aggresive mode. Here's the link: How do I reset Windows Update components?

Hello again!

I am really sorry for the delay. I did overlook them :o

Basically, things aren't looking good. Whenever I have seen that error code, a dying hard disk has come with it.

Please download Sea Tools for Windows: | Seagate

and run a SMART test if available (< 1 minute), a short self test (< 5 minutes), and a long self test (several hours), and report back with the results.

Thanks a lot!

Richard

Richard,
Thanks. It is resolved now. I was able to Install all the updates incl. Windows 7 SP1.
After you mentioned, my wife remined me of checkdsk which I assumed had done it already.
Here's what I did:
1) Ran FixIt from Microsoft - default mode.
2) Ran Checkdsk (Scan Disk when it reboots).
3) Installed All Updates one at a time except W7 SP1.
4) Ran System Readiness Tool.
5) Rebooted machine.
6) Installed Windows 7 SP1.

Thanks for all your suggestions. This Forum is wonderful. I am Linux person don't know quite a bit about MS W7.

Regards,
Prasad

Hello Prasad!

Well, that is excellent news! However, I am still concerned.

chkdsk (primarily) works by finding bad blocks, and marking those blocks as bad so they are not used. The fact that those 64 files were written over bad blocks (now marked as bad by chkdsk) does not mean that we are out of deep water. In fact, it hints to me that I was right in my guess - that that hard disk is dying. The fact that chkdsk had something to fix is not good news!

Can I please strongly recommend that you continue with my instructions concerning SeaTools for Windows, and post back with the results?

Also, if you don't have adequate backups onto other media, now really is the time to make some urgent backups, with important data such as your files, rather than unimportant data (Windows files) starts taking the brunt of the corruptions. Now really is the time to act, before any more damage is done.

Richard

I completely forgot about this thread! I am so sorry!

Basically, that is not good news. That means that your hard disk is in all likelyhood dead, and will enter a downhill spiral. You are going to have to look into replacing that harddisk basically now...

If you need any further help, please do not hesitate to ask,

Richard
