You should "check for updates" tab again and "Review importants updates", some must have been checked and can't be installed along the all the others. Try to select fewer numbers of updates at one time & uncheck optional updates (you could do them later).

I found that some of the updates fail on my notebook. What I do is keep a list of the updates before I install them. Then I check which installed and not installed and place the error code next to it. I check on line to see if I can get the ones that failed to download and save them to disc. Try downloading them from the disc to see if I get an error code again. Sometimes I try this three times and if on the third time it doesn't work I give it a rest and try at again in a few days. Sometimes it takes several tries to get it to accept these downloads.

I just went through this on a new install. For some systems, they can't handle more than a few updates at a time. I tried to run 147 updates through but there were just a huge cascade of failures. However, on another Win7 Pro box just a week ago, they all upgraded fine on the first try.

The thing to try is to do them in batches of 10. Select the earliest updates by date (or KB number)-- do updates first, then security updates, and make sure you leave any browser updates until the very end (don't try to update IE9, IE10, IE11 all at once, just one at a time).

I had to baby the updates like this, but they all installed fine when done this way.
