AMD CCC refusing to start

I just bought an XFX Core Edition 295x2, previously had 2x GTX 670 4GB SLI.

I've done everything at least ten times over, uninstall/driver sweeper out nvidia drivers, uninstall/driver sweeper out AMD drivers, reinstall catalyst, still I get

"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started"

"There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center"

Ugh.

Also, I don't know if this is a cause or an effect of the problem,

you may still have traces of an old driver remaining on your system - some "stubs" may remain in the Registry even after completely removing the previous driver using the "conventional" method..

you could try using the Display Driver Uninstaller by Wagnard, to clean out all existing traces and start all over again..

WARNING - it's a very aggressive tool, so tread warily and follow the instructions TO THE LETTER..

- I use it myself and have not encountered any problems, but you must be very methodical..
