Ancient Compaq C62 win7

I resurrected this old machine when I was having issues with desktop win 7. It is slooooooooooooowwww -- I can get on the net using chrome but it takes forever. I have a set of "repair" disks -- when I open them - files show up but not sure what to do with them. I am on admin when I open them. How should I access these files to repair this pc. Thanks.

how much RAM 2GB?
as youve just resurrected it - your installed programs are going to "phone home" for updates as will Windows Updates
specs say Avast thats a resource hog, i'd opt for Bitdefender free

HDD or SSD

Your repair discs are likely only W7 not W7 SP1, and if your OS is SP1 they are useless

I made the disks when I got the pc. Let me check if pc is sp1 - I think it is. Yes win7 sp1 - 3gb ram. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? Thanks very much.

I also have AVG not Avast.

most importantly an ssd .

It might also be useful to get a bit more ram, if so it is probably very cheap nowadays.
