Annoying Game resolution problem.

Hey all.

I have a system setup so that it is output through my HDTV. There is no real problems with the system at all apart from graphic issues.

Firstly when I started windows, I had to fiddle around with Nvida's screen settings. The resolution was always too high and windows would disappear of the edge of the TV screen I had to play around until I got the crazy resolution below. Text also has a fuzzy feel to it, or even a greeny/blue tinge.

My main problem however when ever I start a game or similar program. The resolution seem to then jump back to their original settings and the game disappear of the edge of the screen again, and I can not seem to stop it doing this.

Does this make sense? Any suggestions?

My system specs are

Welcome to SevenForums I notice that in monitor it's listed as PNP, if windows doesn't recognize the monitor you'll usually have resolution problems.
If you have a primary display and the TV is a secondary display then you will need to install the driver file (.inf file) for the primary display once windows recognizes it you'll have full control of it's resolutions.

Also if your only using your TV letting us know it's make and model can also help with diagnosing the problem.

Their is a program called powersrtip that allows you to change resolutions and resizing of the screen.
PowerStrip 3.75 download from Guru3D.com

If we can get more information on the TV and possibly after you've tried using powerstrip we'll have more ideas.
Thanks. Fabe

What does Powerstrip do?
Here's a link to what powerstrip can do Powerstrip Guide for the powerstrip impaired
Oh and please no offence intended with the impaired part of the link. It just makes it simple to understand.

One other thing I forgot to ask is how your connected HDMI, DVI or VGA. reason being in most cases I read about people having trouble like this it goes away when connected through VGA.

Ah thanks for the link, I can now fiddle with powerstrip, no offence by the name taken.

I am connected to the TV via HDMI. The TV does not have a VGA connector.

Ok please post back and let us know if you were able to use powerstrip to fix the issue and how, so others can find out as well.
Good luck and we'll check back later

what happens if you change the resolution to 1920x1080, and the refresh rate to 60Hz with 32bit color depth?
