yesterday i woke up and found that allthough my internet works and i can download/surf fine, i can't sign into anything like hotmail, gmail, windows live messenger, facebook etc. etc. so like anyone i went searching through forums and googles for a solution to the error 80072EE2 i got from windows update and 80048820 i got from windows live messenger.

i tried everything that i could short of reinstalling windows, from ipconfig/ stuff, IE options (LAN settings etc.), reinstalling my network adapter to cleaning my registry, and the list goes on.

i'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, hopefully someone out there can open my eyes to something i missed.

thanks for any help, and i'll be happy to redo every step for the 6th or 7th time as long as my system works in the end!!

Hi, I'm also getting the 80072EE2 whenever I try to run Windows Update. If it's of any importance, the copy of XP was using before I did a clean install of Windows 7RC wasn't allowing any Windows Updates, and wasn't allowing me to download directly from the Windows Download Center or Update website. I still can't do it even after I installed 7 with a fresh serial key.

Any ideas why it's doing this? The only reason I want Windows Update is so I can install the stupid Zune sync software, and you can't even do that now without updating Windows Update.

I'm so fed up with Microsoft; this might be the last product I try from them.
