Any One Uses Floppy Drive

hehe i used to have one of those compaq portables (fondly called luggables back in the day).

and here's my new compaq luggable. no floppy nor dvd drive, and slightly more portable.

i'm curious as to what you use these museum-piece machines for? (maybe you work in a museum )

I just collect them (BTW, they are ALL operational too) but don't really "use" them for anything. Many vintage computer enthusiasts use theirs to play the older games but I'm not much for games.

I'm looking forward to the day where its easy to find a legacy free motherboard. No floppy or IDE controllers, no PS2 keyboard mouse, no serial or parallel ports that I will never use. I know you can disable them in the BIOS but I'd rather not have them there at all. Ideally for me there would be no onboard Video or sound.

I have one (floppy drive) in my computer that I use to hold my card readers and just in case.

Yea, I use floppy disks. I have a Sony Mavica that I use a lot. It has the best quality than my new one so I use it alot.

Yep. Got an internal FDD in this rig. But it will most likely be my last.

I've got a lot of old stuff on floppies- utilities, old progs, diagnostics. I always think I might need to use them again one day. Dreaming. Anything useful today is already on USB stick.

I'll always keep at least one computer around here that has a FDD. Just in case.
I still got some boxes that people own that I work on that are ancient.
