Out of six Atlantis, five Nautlius 5ml, and now a 3rd Nautilus Mini tank along with the Kanger Aerotanks added into the mix for the 20w iSticks only I somehow managed to only have replaced two Atlantis coils, three Nautilus one on a Mini tank, and one for all three Aerotank Mini and one Mega in total since i had the Aerotanks for some time but not in use, the first three Nautilus 5ml on Black Friday as well as a pair of Atlantis to be followed by tracking down one of the Amazon vendors to the home site for two more 5ml the following week. Two more Atlantis in early December. And I just had ordered another one of those along with the 3rd Nautilus Mini when going to pre-order the first of the two 50w iSticks.

So how does that work? When having several tanks on several mods at the same time often for sampling new flavors you are not seeing one tank or mod in constant use. The Aspire coils have been found to be more durable as well as the Atlantis coils being larger then anyone else's Those take quite a bit more to kill off when not cranked over 50w. I also noticed on the 150w mod the vape is actually as cool at 40w on the Atlantis at 4.4v as it is on the Smok Tumblers at 7w with the same flavor in the tank! But you get much more of the flavor along with the large increase of vapor production without needing to be a cloud maker.

The largest holes or openings on the tanks serve to draw more air for clouds but much less flavor since you tend to be sucking air! The Nautilus as well as the Atlantis each have four positions where the second seems to the best flavor when turning it up above 20w like 35-50w. When up that high putting the adjuster on the fourth hole serves mostly for clouding around.

Most of the time the mod an Atlantis is found on besides Luxyoun 150w will be at 20w while the Nautilus when excluding the one on the Guardian II epipe is varying between 11-13w. On the DovPo 30w the one there sits at 20w however. One thing I found with the Aspire coils in comparison to the SMOK by Smoktech was the longevity is noticed. I can swap flavors when the tank is down or drain off one flavor and in a few puffs be vaping the next without the need to flush the tank out or soak the coils overnight.

The Atlantis coils favor that the most from not being cotton wicked like those in a Tumbler or Aerotank. Some claim to have been getting 3 full months out of a coil on the Atlantis which sounded more like fiction however. If you should burn some ejuice when turning the watts up that will tend to shorten the life of any coil a bit faster. Some you simply have to keep the watts and volts turned down for.

Here's one for the books! I just found a Nautilus BVD coil that went through the complete laundry cycle(washer, dryer) will give that a test once I have one of the tanks empty again to see how well it did with a thorough washing! Apparently that was one I had replaced. I suspect it will be totally free of any ejuice that was jelled up or burnt that can make a coil look bad at times.

Well I didn't even know it was still in a pocket when tossing the laundry in. It was I was taking things out of the dryer I heard the metal hit metal and had to find out what fell out of one. And there it was a nice sparkling clean... Natulius coil! :shock: :roflmao:

If it works that will show Oxyclean not the combination of that with the laundry detergent can work for cleaning since oxyclean dissipates rapidly in bubbles not leaving residues behind. I use that for coffee urns to remove the most stubborn stains you can think of and simply flush it with water after to see all traces gone.

Actually coils generally won't see rust to begin with unless you leave them outdoors and exposed to the elements. I've been working with the Smoktech coild since October 2013 washed with hot water and someone else who boils his coils and leaves them out in the hot Arizona sunshine and not one has ever seen any rust. I'm up here in the northeast and can leave a few outside next to the drain pipe for a week and see. First I have to dig that out of the snowbank however.

I receive my vapemail yesterday, the Bavarian Hazlenut Cream. This has been a favorite of mine but haven't had any of it in a while. So I loaded it up and the flavor is amazing. Vaping it on the new Melo, at a higher wattage brought out more of the subtle parts I liked about it. Today I will up the wattage a little to see the effect.

Often you will find that stepping things up a little will tend to bring out more from certain flavors. When running most at 7w on the Tumbler on top of a VV/VW type battery either one of the eGo-V V3 or V4 Mega batteries or one of the iTaste VV v3.0s for example a few flavors were still a bit oversweet until I turned them upto 10w where the real taste was brought out.

With the newer tanks that are not only BCC, BDC, and BVC you also have the capability to handle more input and still not get hot but perform better with both seeing a robust flavor carried as well as the increased vapor. One thing is for certain at least now you know the new sub ohm by Eleaf performs well which doesn't come as any surprise here. Since the Atlantis to be followed by the Kanger sub ohm tank were announced several other sub ohm tanks have been showing up. iSmoka however wanted to be their's was good for the iStick 30w and 50w models that can run sub ohm tanks.

So I have had the new Melo sub ohm tank for a week and wanted to share my opinion. Sub ohm tanks have ups and down supposedly

Pros- Greater flavor and more clouds

Cons- Use more power and juice

For me it has been in the middle. I really enjoy the flavor, that is more important than clouds to me. I played with it, increasing the wattage and found I don't like really high watts. Sure I did at times(drinking beer induced) but overall it is a better experience at the lower end of the power scale. I do admit that hitting it at high watts is fun at times.

I am the type of vapor that likes more flavor than clouds. I keep my mod at 20-22 watts with the melo.I have played around up to 40 watts. My use of ejuice has not increased because of the lower setting, and I still rotate with the nautilus. When I first started I was chasing something... a new hobby. Now that I have been at it a few months things have settled.

My whole point is if you are new to vaping and decide to upgrade, you may decide it isn't all that. At first I enjoyed my ego style pen, then needed more. Now I have upgraded and it all still boils down to flavor. Most people touting subohming are cloud chasers in my opinion. Not me, I want the flavor. The new Melo subohm tank is awesome, but for me just on the low end of the power scale. At this point I do not need another upgrade.

So if you are considering an upgrade and weighing the pros and cons of sub-ohming it is worth it. The funny thing is I paid less for my Melo than the Nautilus, so it is a good time to vape!

TLDR version, went from a Nautilus at 11.5 watts to a Melo at 20 watts and the flavor is twice as good.

When first getting the Nautilus tanks here those still seeing the initial factory promo deal of two additional coils tossed in. The Atlantis had just come out as well as the start of a number of new smaller regulated box mods. At the same time I was looking to upgrade after two full years of vaping and wasn't looking at the high wattage simply for cloud making either.

What most won't realize at first since they are in need of getting adjusted to vaping since it is a completely different experience is the eventual need to boost things up a bit in order to get where they want to be if they should be starting off with the disposables or small 180mah cigarette look alikes and find those simply do not suffice.

At first here I found the Bloog refillable 20 drop blanks just weren't going to cut while I still lighting up and soon saw the 650mah batteries Bloog decided to smarten up by offering. Those were 808 threaded at first for their brand CE2 clearomizers and still lacking being the top coil long wicked type subject to dry hit issues. That is typical with the CE2 and CE4 while you will never see CE3s. The flavor for many flavors sadly suffer greatly when trying to make an accurate evaluation as I was still sampling for a new eliquids vendor until the business found itself off onto a good start.

The initial upgrade only brought in a few VV type batteries and then 14months after starting it was time to find better tanks and look further into VV/VW types of gear. The Tumblers still in use tend to serve well with the eGo type batteries while not able to get into the higher performance I was still looking for. The next upgrade was to bring in the Nautilus and Atlantis tanks as well as the higher wattage gear as the suggestions made for one business about not being able to produce quality vapor along with the excellence in blending was addressed. Once the new tanks were in the few flavors that vaped hot on the old CE2s suddenly saw a turn for the better as the increase in wattage with the improved designs of tanks made the difference overall.

As for cloud making the largest air holes or air flow depending on the type of AFC involved if present as well as the higher VG ratio if not 100% are what cloud makers will want. For the flavor chasers the 70PG/30VG ratio is the most common. Now for going with the latest tanks out that average 15-30w Nautilus can be still run low at 7w-10w for some older menthols that don't wick well. the average is 10-20w depending on the ejuice. For a sub ohm tank the average 20-30w is the most common while some flavors will want a higher 40w-50w. In each case the increase in vapor is available while the flavor is still present until dropping the PG level substantially. The fewer flavors that vape well at the higher wattage are lighter and wick much easier in order to still get a smooth vape and not a hot hit.

The Melo tank is based much on the design seen with the Atlantis and the vendors indicate you can still use Melo coils on the Atlantis tanks suggesting the same company makes both despite seeing a different brand name. Often what some label as clones are simply the change of brand name for the same thing. And since the Atlantis can bring out more flavor as well as see an increase of vapor production you should expect the Melo to do likewise.

I still run both as well as the Mini Nautilus and some Aerotanks depending on the mod in use. A mech epipe will a Kraigen Atlantis while the second regulated version won't fire below 1ohm. The mechs see direct flow through the switching on/off or locked/unlocked to the tank attached and why many opt for safety fuses. The Nautilus however works out best on the regulated epipe as opposed to several other tanks tried out. That runs 6-15w however while the Nautilus will still handle 20w when you have the right ejuice in the tank that wicks easy.

It's a quite a bit at first for most to even take in. And the simple fact is each will have to experiment a bit over time to find out just what is going to work the best for them. With just over $5,000 invested over the last 2 1/2yrs. time I will be adding a pair of Melo tanks plus some cotton coils for the Atlantis into the mix to place those up against the Atlanti stock coils and compare tanks. At first I only paid about $25-$28 with two extra coils for the Nautilus and $22 for the Mini tanks and $25 for the Atlantis by shopping around a bit. Most places want $33-$45 for those tanks while some will list them onsale to keep the prices down.

On the social networks in discussion groups there you will find too often is the cloud makers and RDA fans. Unfortunately that seems to be the most common trends while some still want to keep things basic as much as possible. The contract in pc terms would be those who prefer to run stock systems while there are those who want to OC. This is simply another area where some simply want a different type of bragging rights.

I think you are finding out for yourself what is working the best for you over time. The photos earlier where there to indicate what it can take at times to finally get into the gear that reach the intended goals. The point is that the investment is worth it in the long run as far as the potential health benefits of no longer smoking as well as some reporting improvements in COPD problems. In a 2014 news report the now Late Leonard Nimoy mentioned he had quit 30yrs. before being diagnosed with COPD conditions while accepting he was also up in age. So trying out a few tanks now to find what works for you is actually in your interest. Let the showmen worry about making the clouds!

One thing you will find for sure is besides wattages and voltage settings will be varying hardware combinations having a large effect on specific flavors as well as the eliquids as far as the PG/VG ratio. After this amount of time I still find myself scratching my head at either a new one or one I haven't tried on the better gear.

Another thing that can get a bit involved at times is the actual science since no one knows what the long term effects will prove to be since vaping while not new in concept has only been on the market now for a decade starting off with some crude cig look alikes. As the hardwares and eliquids have made quite a bit of progress the more positive side of things is starting to be seen as well as more medical sources avoid the scare tactics to reveal some interesting benefits I have also heard from a number of people already with pre-existing conditions.

Here's one report regarding asthmatics who smoked finding health benefits are being seen when switching from smoke to vapor.

HOUSTON – Asthmatic smokers who switched to electronic cigarettes showed evidence suggestive of respiratory harm reversal in a retrospective pilot study.
“Electronic cigarette use improves respiratory physiology and subjective asthma outcomes in asthmatic smokers. E-cigarettes are a safer alternative to conventional cigarettes in this vulnerable population,” Dr. Cristina Russo declared at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Well for each person it is personal to the greater extent. The rest is there whether technical, medical, or the basic science involved for those who want to look further. I came up through the ranks from a time when smoking was a common place item even after the initial 1964 Surgeon General's report on the risks. Here in the 21st century we are now seeing better tools for dumping the risk factors. I think we might doing something right for a change! :roflmao:

Few of these Ive had before and a few are new. Vaping YoPlay parlay now and its pretty good. Kinda tastes like Yoplait Strawberry, but light on the fruit. So far so good, but We'll see how I like it after a tank full.

Gonna try the Melon boba next. Heard tons of good stuff about it.

Well not being familiar with which vendors you go through I tend to stick with a list of familiar ones from only a few select sources along with whatever samples get tossed in with hardware orders. Crystal Canyon Vapes, Mt Baker, Vista Vapors(few only there), Mom & Pop Vape Shop are on the small list.

As far as Vape Mail everybody is generally waiting in anticipation. I have one order pending at the moment for some adapters to go with a few spare usb charging cords and a few sub ohm tanks with some others coming into view.

Now for flavors I typically have about two dozen onhand it seems and have been trying to play catch up for some time. The main thing I like about CCV flavors is not having any wait for steeping. Those come ready to vape out of the bottle.
