Hello RoloDman. I posted the program here a week ago or so. I tried it. I had already manually configured my startup programs.

The pro would be you can add some delay, or delete items if you didn't know how to manually.

The con is it wants to call out to add your decisions to the "community". And as of a week ago it didn't recognize many programs. It didn't know what Avast was, or Comodo firewall. Could it develop into a good resource? possibly, if it is widely adapted. But personally I don''t like programs calling out, I had already configured my startup programs, and continually do so as new ones are added, and I just didn't need it. A Guy

By added, do you mean 'added to start up' that you know of - or added apps that you don't even have installed on your PC?

If it's the former - that's normal. Msconfig does not always show what is set to run at startup.

If it's the latter, and you are sure you don't have that particular app installed, then that is not normal.

Yes, I was referring to the former. i had no idea that some start-up programs would be hidden from msconfig. Kind of stupid IMO that it would not list them all.

I've noticed that since I installed the new x64 version of SuperAntispyware that I now have SASCore64.exe running in my processes, and it isn't listed in startup. I don't have it set to start with windows. Not worried on that one since it's not a bother.

But Soluto doesn't know what Avast and Comodo are out of the box, they didn't prepare much!

I also mentioned this program a week ago and have been using it since. I havent really noticed much difference in boot times tbh.

@A Guy: go to services and youl find it there. Ive disabled mine.

Oh no doubt, I'm not concerned, only mentioned it because it is obviously starting with windows, but doesn't show in "startup". Thanks though

Update: THis is becoming a fantastic program. It works perfectly, finds startup programs (like Real services) that don't show up in msconfig>Startup.

It isn't necessary to keep it scanning at bootup, just uncheck "Live Boot Startup" by rightclicking in System Tray and then Exit and it won't come back until you run it.

Let's just call it a sleek better version of msconfig.

I've used autoruns for years now as it's the only application I know that seems to show everything but it is a little intimidating for those without a bit of experience - worthwhile having available for anyone who wants to know what's really going on in the box

I did use a start-up delayer with XP and Vista for a while as it enabled me to get to a working desktop a bit quicker - rather than the normal free for all with all the start-up processes fighting for cycles.

With win7 there doesn't seem to be the "bottleneck" there used to be

Problem with Soluto

I found, on my system, Soluto causes Windows Explorer to be very unstable. Explorer itself restarts time after time. Nothing destructive happens, but it is a monumental pain.
By process of elimination, after a cold boot, I found it was Soluto causing it. After I removed the program, the problem went away.

My system is a "roll your own" homebuilt. The salient points: Biostar MoBo with an Intel 775 Core 2 Duo 2.2 CPU, an Nvidia 8400 1GB GPU vid board by Gforce, 3GB memory, 2TB on four HHD, Windows 7 Ultimate.

I do a lot of conversion and burning of video, We're really into old movies. By "old" I mean 1930's and 40's which are contemporary to us (I'm 79). This rig is cobbled, I know, but it does what I want.

First, I'm also a big fan of old movies, so I'm personally hurt by this problem. The symptoms you describe are very bothering, would you by any chance be willing to spare a few minutes and help us find out what's causing this? I would greatly appreciate it if you would drop us a note at support[at]soluto[dot]com and mention this thread. To paraphrase, I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Soluto my experience.

not a computer geek so not up on all the technical bits a bobs, just a silver surfer who is really ok and comfortable with a computer. Been using Soluto for a while. Agree that is probably no better than doing it yourself manually but for someone who may be a little afraid of screwing up something that is already working ok i think it serves a purpose. Doesn't seem to do any harm so that;s ok.

Disappointed with the new version. Thought the "Tidy up your web Browser" bit (whatever that's called) might be good but it doesn't show mine. What I mean is my default browser is Google Chrome but Soluto is only showing IE and Firefox. Odd unless I've got a setting wrong somewhere.

it may be a programme that eventually becomes quite useful so lets wait and see.

Iv'e got the reverse problem. It sees Chrome which is my default browser but not Firefox or IE which I use occasionally. I just installed it today so maybe it will take some time to find the others. After configuring the boot options it has done a bit more than I did manually so the jury is still out on this.


I found the other browsers they were hiding off to the side.

i second autoruns (part of the sysinternals suite) soluto tried it failed it crashed to much for me.
