Applied new thermal paste

Alright, this was my first time removing the current thermal paste and applying new one, the previous one was tough to remove because it was stone hard, although I didnt remove 100% of it i'd say I took out a good 70-80% of what was there.

So when applying it, I hear some ppl say to put as much as the size of a bb just a small dot (this is for my laptop cpu and gpu) which I did, then evenly spread it around with the little spreader it came with. My cpu now gets hotter by 4-5c, im kinda wondering why I thought it would be a lot better since the previous one looked very well worn out.

What make of paste did you use? Artic Silver is a recommended make. You also state that you did not manage to remove all of the existing paste. You should repeat this procedure, and ensure that all of the existing paste is removed from both the CPU and the heatsink. Instructions should be provided with the paste. Don't use too much as this can result in a heat insulator rather than a heat conductor (the purpose of the paste is to fill in the microscopic pits and craters that exist in the seemingly smooth (to the eye) top of the CPU and bottom of the heatsink).

Only one available in stores was a cheap brand =\ called Dynex

I think the problem is more the fact that you didn't get all of the old paste off. Clean it with some rubbing alcohol and get it all.

Next, put the small dob right in the center, but I don't advise spreading manually, rather put the cooler on and let it spread by itself.

So you never did give the info requested (make/model of laptop) I also noticed that you have not given the info in the TWO other threads you started about the same issue and now your issue is spread over THREE threads.
