Hi guys,

When trying to boot my computer, I keep getting a message "Applying update operation 217 of 217" and it stays stuck on this all day (I've left the computer on for about 10 hours).

I've tried turning off the power and rebooting but the same thing happens over and over again.

Anyone got any ideas to what I can do?

And of course you have your win 7 dvd and a restore point. If you have those no problem. Otherwise try booting into safe mode (F8). If that doesnt work you can try a repair install from the win 7 dvd.

Try booting in safe mode. If you can, remove the recent updates, by using system restore, then boot. If it works properly, set the updater to notify and not install. When you get the updates again, install one at a time, to find the culprit, then uninstall it and unless it is security related, just set to hide.

Did you just do a clean install of your Windows 7 and that's why you're showing 217 of 217 updates? Or did this message suddenly appear out of the blue? If it suddenly appeared, what tasks was your computer performing just prior to receiving the message?
