No, windows 7 works perfectly great for me.
For windows 8 I think it suits tablets much better in my opinion.

But no, I have no use for Win8. It seems that Ms have read all the "reviews" that forecast the death of the PC, specifically the 'big Box' desktop that most of us use and like. Unfortunately, their crystal ball is not working as planned, much like their new O/s.

As has been said here, I will wait for Win 9. If it's better than 7, (difficult to envisage) then maybe I will upgrade. 7 does what I want it to do, flawlessly and consistently for the most part.

The reason I don't upgrade to Windows 8 because:

1. I don't need Microsoft account and it's Metro apps.
2. Windows 8 is almost same as Windows 7 but with Metro experience. I don't need Metro, thanks.
3. I keep Windows 7 as my favorite operating system without issues. Even until 2020.
4. Some programs and devices may not work with Windows 8. As Windows 8 RTM born just 2 weeks ago.
5. Microsoft would recommend using Windows 7 because it gets easier than other operating system. As you see now Seven Forums has more than 200,000 members.

1.Windows operating system have some where around 70 to 80 % of the market.
2.Windows Office is around there also.
3. Windows 7 is competing against XP and has won. Microsoft against Microsoft.

A new market has been growing and is predicted to keep growing. Poke a picture and get something crowd. Windows 8 is for this crowd. They don't care what a right click can open and the things they can do with it, ect. Microsoft want to dominate this market also and I don't blame them.

Surely gaining market share of the Poke it crowd doesn't mean they have to abandon the PC every day normal users. Microsoft seams to think so and their fore Windows 8.

Windows 7 SP-2 won't do much because their isn't any money in SP's for Microsoft.

What should Microsoft do?
Build a system for the Poke it crowd; Windows 8. Also build a new operating system for PC users and give people a choice. Windows 9. What does this do? Microsoft can keep or gain market share of what they already have and gain market share with the Poke it crowd. This will have a cost but at least Microsoft isn't competing against Microsoft as they are now; Windows 7, a three year old system against Windows 8. Toys for those that want toys and a operating system for those that want a operating system and will take the time to learn how to use it.

No reason to upgrade to windows 8 at all, it will be the mess Windows ME and Vista were. I shall wait till they fix everythng and then go to Windows 9.......

i doubt windows 9 will be any different, lets not take away some of the good points of windows 8 though beneath the surface of the ui it is an amazing os far better then windows 7 the only fault of windows 8 is the user interface nothing else, touch is not that widely used on desktops and that is where they made the mistake the uptake to touch will be slower still given how few actually like the windows 8 ui as well kind of like a testament to how bad it can be done.

there is plenty of reasons to upgrade to windows 8, increased hdd support up to 396tb (or around there) new dx version will only be supported on win 8(how long till games come out that run better on that?) no more bsod's...yeah thats right they don't exist in windows 8 probably some other crash report system but the old blue screen of death is gone, partly because the os is more stable and has some function or another built in to prevent critical crashes like those.

we want to hate windows 8 for everything yet there is no reason to, skipping the ui debate there really is nothing wrong with windows 8.

i thought they had changed the end support date to 2024 due to the poor reception of windows 8? was in an article in the news i read a while back...might have just been a suggestion though rather than anything else i can't remember now.

i think what people envisage as the death of the desktop is from watching to much star trek tbh, sure when every home has access to mainframe spec computers like tony stark does then maybe just maybe the desktop will be dead, or when we have tablet computers that can actually run proper full blown apps and use the same hardware as those mainframe computers or link in to use that hardware perhaps then the desktop will be dead.

right now tablets suck lets be honest here they are glorified internet access points you wouldn't use one to edit a movie so whats the point in them.

right now all i want is a tablet that can link to my own desktop that is effectivly just an extension of that desktop using my desktops hardware not it's own. then i'll be happy right now i see no point to tablets crappy hardware and restrictive operating systems.

believe me if i could i would start a company that makes just that.

No offense intended, but you're way off base. I personally have a Samsung tablet (a build slate) to tide me over until I purchase a new tablet (intel) running Windows 8 early next year. I use it daily to do all of the things my desktop can do when docked and attached to a nice large monitor (mostly development in visual studio), and it doubles as a tablet without a keyboard/mouse when I need it for watching media, playing games, and otherwise passing time in airports, on planes, or in hotels. Having one device that *can* do both saves me money and weight in my bag, for starters.

Actual tablets (phablets), when you're talking about actual work do indeed mostly stink at this. However, an ultrabook in a tablet format does indeed NOT suck at either. In fact, it's pretty amazing to think you *can* do both in one form factor (sometimes called a "tabtop").
