Hi folks,

I have fresh installatioin of Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 x32 edition running on my PC. When I go to Device Manager I see that my Network Controller drivers are not properly installed. My network card is also listed as beeing Nvidia nForce Network Controller which is incorrect.

After checking ASRock online specification and after opening my case I can verify that the actual chip is Realtek RTL8211CL. I tried to download newest drivers from ASRocks website, flash BIOS... but withouth any success. On Realtek website there is no driver for aforementioned chip.

Windows keeps detecting it as beeing Nvidia nForce Network Controller which is absolutely incorrect.
Is this some kind of bug related to the mainboard or what...?

Any ideas...?

I don't know why it's recognized as Nvidia Network Controller. I was searching the Internet for similar problem but seems like no one had one.

It seems to me like it is something related to the chipset itself. I've never encountered something like this. I've seen incorrect drivers installed manually but I've never seen Windows detects incorrect Network controller.

Tried to without success. Device Manager lists Network Controller as not working (yellow triangle) and it displays ...code 10 for the specified device.

Also tried to follow instructions from the MSDN site related to code 10 issue but that did not help either.

I would say that the problem is windows detects wrong network chip and tries to install incorrect driver from the windows drivers repository. Since there is no driver available on the Realtek official website for the RTl8211CL chip it seems like I'm stuck here. If there is no official driver available it must be incorporated into the windows but windows detects network controller as beeing Nvidia...

I don't know what else I should try to make it work

The problem seems to be with the Chipset DRiver if you got that Installed it would sort the Lan Driver issue as it is included in the Download ... Now from what I can tell there the Windows 7 Drivers are only for the 64 Bit version ...

Is that what your OS was originally ?

When I run the Nvidia drivers installer (all in one package) downloaded from the ASRock site or Nvidia site I got no errors. When I say 'no errors' I mean that installation (display driver, sata, ethernet...) completes successfully. When I check Device Manager it still displays the Network controller as not working.

I'm running 32 bit version of Windows.

If I may assist, a Dxdiag report can also provide useful information in this case. First, list any Problem devices
  • Make sure devices are connected and powered on
  • Click the Start Orb, type msinfo32 in the search box. Hit Enter
  • Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
  • Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
  • If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
  • On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell me so
Generate and attach a DirectX report
  • Click Start, enter dxdiag in the search box
  • When DxDiag opens, look along the buttons at the bottom of the DxDiag window
===> If you’re running 64 bit Windows, you’ll see a 64-bit DxDiag button. Click it to run the 64-bit version of dxdiag
  • Notice progress in lower left window corner
  • When done, click Save Information button and save as a text file to your Desktop
  • Upload the file to your next post

Sorry guys for late response I was busy. Unfortunately I dont't have the PC anymore. I've supposed to repair it and give it back to customer.

What I can tell you is that I tested it with KNOPPIX just to eliminate any Windows related issues and Network controller didn' work with Knoppix either. I decided to install new NIC and finish with it.

I've tried pretty much everything so I'm 99% sure that the NIC was dead. After replacing (installing new one) everything works as it should without problems.

Thanks for the help anyway :)
