I have a new embroidery program (Embrilliance Thumbnailer) with the extension .bx. This is supposed to make all the embroidery files show a picture of the file but they have to be unzipped. All of my other embroidery files (.pes, .sew, etc) show "Unknown Application" & are visible. When I go to the place where you can change the program to open it with I can't uncheck the box that says always use this (it is gray). Can anyone tell me how to get this one to open with the unknown application? I have Windows 7.

Those file extensions appear to be proprietary to the programs that use them and without such a program installed they usually are unusable. When the choice "says always use this (it is gray):" it usually means there's no other program installed that can open the file. An example is Microsoft Word and Windows Wordpad, both can open the same type files and a choice can be made as to which is the default.

It did work already. My computer crashed & had to be reformatted. When I reinstalled & went back to use it this is what happened. Someone got it fixed (said something about it wasn't associated with windows) and got it to work. Now when I downloaded some new files it's back like it was.
