ASUS P8Z68-V BIOS Settings

In my motherboard's BIOS settings, there are three USB settings that can be changed.

1.) USB Legacy Support
2.) USB 3.0 Legacy Support
3.) EHCI Hand-off

I'm at Win7 x64, do I need to disable them all?

Would keeping the USB/USB 3.0 Legacy Support enabled still use the driver installed in Win7 or will it override and use the built-in USB drivers in the motherboard?

How about EHCI Hand-off?

Why? Windows 7 has their own drivers right? Won't they interfere with Win7's native drivers when enabled?

The way I understand it "USB Legacy Support" is what lets you access your BIOS with a USB keyboard. If you disable it and don't have a PS2 keyboard connected you won't be able to access your BIOS settings.

Yup but when you enable that setting won't it interfere with Win7? Will Win7 use its own native USB drivers if that is enabled?

I don't think it has anything to do with drivers and nothing to do with windows 7. Enabling it causes a USB keyboard to be emulated as a PS2 keyboard in BIOS. I could be wrong but thats my understanding. It sounds like you're going to disable them anyway so go ahead and do it and see what happens.

I do plan on disabling them because I'm not gonna use them. Oh and even if they are disabled, I can use my usb mouse and usb keyboard in the UEFI BIOS. It's just that I cannot use them in legacy operating systems and even in DOS. My main concern though is that if they are disabled won't it affect Windows 7 in any way?

I don't know to be honest, I thought I knew what that setting meant but a Google search has me wondering if the meaning hasn't changed over the years. :confused:
