Solved attempted OC

I attempted to OC my cpu in the bios, after changing the mhz from 3000 to 3400, my computer just cycles on and off. It comes on for 6 seconds and then off for about the same time...it's been doing this for almost 30 minutes now.

Lots of possibilities. May be RAM related.

I would just reset CMOS and try again.
Do you have a jumper switch or button on your Motherboard? Some boards may also have a jumper pin on the board or back of the MOBO.
I do not know about your particular board, but there just be a way to reset bios to default.


Also, you will likely need to uplug & purge the power before resting.
For example, My board says remove and drain power, then hold the reset CMOS button on the board for 15 seconds. reconnect power and reset bios to default.
Your should have a similar way of doing it.

Thanks...will give it a go when I get home from work.

Weird thing is; it's behavior is exactly the same when I turned on ASUS ACC with out knowing what ACC is/was. Later I found out it was to unlock certain cores on certain processors.

After about 30 minutes it booted up.....

Note: when this all happened, current problem, my logitech keyboard was still lit up (it's illuminated blue) and now it's off. My mouse scroll wheel lights up as well and is still glowing blue.

Ok...I won't be doing that anymore... following your suggestions and having a look at my mobo manual, I've reset the CMOS battery and jumpers and I'm all loaded up....Thanks!

I do not know much about AMD overclocking but ...

Some of tyhe issue could be RAM. Especially if OCing the CPU increases RAM speed as well. If thats the case, you may be better off setting the memory to run as slow as possible at first and find a stable CPU clock. Then work with the RAM.

Just a thought.
Im sure others more knowledgeable with OCing AMD systems would be of more help.

Originally, I had my cpu OC with in my GPU software in the CCC....it was very easy, it did all the calculations and found it's limits. Now that option is gone with my new card. Trying to do it in the bios is another matter all together. It seems I need to do some more research on the topic.
