I was trying to fix a hardware issue with my computer (was getting BSODs). Now all my audio drivers are uninstalled and so are my CD/DVD drives! And guess what? Windows refuses to reinstall them! (all fail to install on a restart)

And I quote: "Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed."

List:
ATAPI DVD A DH20A4P ATA Device
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M ATA Device
NVIDIA High Definition Audio (x5)
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 (8851)
Realtek High Definition Audio-failed
MS Streaming Clock Proxy
MS Streaming Quality Manager Proxy
MS Streaming Service Proxy
MS Streaming Tee/Sink-to-Sink Converter (x2)
MS Trusted Audio Drivers

Note: Currently both drivers are showing as "CD-ROM Drive" in Device Manager, and all audio devices currently have the yellow exclamation symbol.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers with no success. Any way that you can think of to help me out will be appreciated.

Drastic - but

In 'device manager' > 'system devices'
Uninstall/delete 'PCI Bus'

reboot

Don't worry, coz it forces Win(7) to find/load majority of it's device drivers again!

See if that works. It will need to connect to the internet too to download latest drivers etc!

Do not load older drivers from CD - unless they are for SATA/Raid hard drive at new install.

Are you sure bios settings are correctly set up and haven't 'glitched' and reset?

No, that did not fix my problem. I have even tried manually installing and updating each device, only to get messages such as:

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers. Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupt or missing. (Code 39). If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."

ALSO: Now my CD/DVD-ROM drivers are okay, but my display driver won't install properly. (NVIDIA GeForce 210)

Edit: the display driver just needed an update. the audio drivers, however, have shown no signs of working.

Lol you are winding me up right - it HAS fixed loads of bits! :D
One thing at a time - coz you screwed your registry up

Have you updated to newest directX - load it on
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng#

reboot your pc!

Whack this on
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=7525&lang=eng

reboot your pc!

See if audio drivers now load on from realtek HD driver website
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
reboot

After
Go to start > type dxdiag (in white box) > open the .exe and run the tests
Report any problems with graphics, directX + audio
Do a screen shot of each fail screen - if you know how

Audio Chipset integrated by Realtek® ALC889
- Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing
- Compliant with Azalia 1.0 Spec

When you have internet access download off MSI website(live update4) - your audio driver must be outdated or corrupted.

I just decided to do a system restore (before I lost sound in the first place). It works fine now, but I did get a BSOD after installing the latest version of iTunes.

I cannot upload my extremely large MEMORY.DMP file (500MB) or I will go over my bandwidth limit. So here's the minidump file.

I know nothing about itunes - glad you solved your audio problem and still had enough system restore points to get past your mess! ;)

For archive purposes the probable cause of not being able to load the Audio drivers was >>>

Make sure motherboard sound/audio is switched on in the Bios!

You then need to load the "Intel ALCxxx" driver
or
UAA driver from Microsoft!
Which driver depends upon the manufacturer/chipset so research first!

These are usually given/found on your 'original' Motherboard CD disk!
These special drivers are NOT included with the main audio driver packs!

Then go to Realtek/Intel website and download latest audio drivers!

Should work for most people
Good Luck
