Audio turned off, FN * wont turn it on.

Ok I downloaded a program called Mumble. I had trouble with my laptop speakers and headphones. So I disabled my laptop speakers, but all the sudden my audio is turned off, it has a speaker with a small X in a circle to the lower right. How can I turn my audio back on? It's really annoying playing games with no sound when I want sound.
I am running a Windows 7.

Upper right hand side of the keyboard on my keyboards. Sometimes it requires pressing the FN key as well....sometimes. What that symbol is telling you is the system is muted.

Mine has a speaker with the / in a circle
Btw that mutes/unmutes for me.
And its not muted my audio is OFF
(*) is the outcome without pressing FN

EDIT: actually it says when hovered on, that I have no headphones/speakers plugged in, while I'm sitting here, headphones on and plugged in.

If that didn't fix the issue then right click on the speaker icon and select the Playback devices then choose the device that turns the speakers back on normally "Speakers" I run mine from the Digital Output but that's me, when I want to play some remote RF controlled speakers hooked up to the speaker output then I switch to speakers and it turns the digital off. i go back and forth between these all the time.

Ok my audio works only when I enable the "Headphones and speakers".
I can't get my "Independent" headphones to work.
it all works now, my headphones are running through my speakers.

usually clicking the system tray volume icon will open the volume slider , then clicking the speaker icon button with the x or stop circle turns the mute back on .
simplest way IMO
