I have tried everything I know to do but when I insert a disc it will not auto play according to the specifications that I have set in the auto run configerations.

I have run services for shell hardware detection and it was set to manual but I changed it to automatic and
restarted my computer and still the CD or DVD does not start playing automatically.

What else do I need to do?

Thanks
Tom

Well; i have encountered this same scenario; and essentially; windows for whatever reason does not like to "autoplay" certain disks. Ive encountered this when running disks that are not audio discs mostly. I believe it is just a quirk of windows unfortunately as i have tried everything i know of with my knowledge and nothing will fix it.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
I have fixed my problem by following the below procedure which I got from tom's hardware forum:
"See if the Group Policy Setting has been disabled for the Autoplay feature.
Note: Changing Group Policy Settings applies to only Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows Enterprise editions.
1. Click Start and in the Search box, type gpedit.msc and press enter.
Now browse to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/ Windows Components/Autoplay Policies/Turn off auto play.
2. To Enable:
Change the value of Turn off Autoplay to Disabled.
Note: This will enable the Autoplay feature.

This will fix your problem that sp2 caused. sp2 automatically disabled auto play by default so to enable it
you have to disable it to turn it back on.
