Hello guys, I need a little help here.

I have created a new "Standard User" in Windows 7 (6.1, Build 7600).
However, when I try to login using that newly created "Standard User", it suddenly Logged Off just before the Desktop displayed. I tried a few times and all the same.

# I have checked the registry for the "userinit.exe" path..and its ok.
# My Avast antivirus is updated and I am sure it is not because of virus infection.
# I have checked the "C:\Users" and found no new folder created for the new "Standard User" profile, indicating that the "Desktop preparation" process is not even executed.
# I have restarted my pc and try to login and the problem still the same.

I am stuck here and I need help...

I forgot to say welcome to the forums. If that doesn't help, hang around, someone will come up with a solution. There's not a week that goes by that I don't learn something from these people.

I got it!

Thanks a lot Cato. Even the links you give does not give me direct solutions. But it give me some ideas about identifying problems at registry level.

The problem occurred because I want to create a customized user folder and I have modified a sub key in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList"...

The solution is quite simple:
1) Delete the newly created "Standard User"
2) Go to the sub key that I've just currently modified (as shown above)
3) Change the value to its default which is "%SystemDrive%\User"
4) Create a new Standard User

And login using the newly created Standard User..and all problem gone..! =)

Glad you got it figured out. Always makes me feel good when I work through a problem. I just have to make sure to write it down or I will forget in 3 months if it happens again.
