Bad SSD?

I bought a Samsung 250GB SSD and it has been working fine for a few months however the past two or three weeks I've been having issues. Every once in a while (two or three times a week?) my harddrive will act like it's failing. Things stop working (I was downloading something and the download randomly failed, windows explorer fails to open folders) then I get a BSOD. I unplug the SSD and plug it back in and restart the computer and it boots up just fine but something isn't right. It worked for months without an issue but now it's becoming a problem. Is the hard drive failing? Bad cords? Any ideas?

Hi TeamMM3,

Unfortunately your .zip file does not contain any minidump files, these are crucial for solving BSOD problems.

Please follow these steps to enable minidumps:

  1. Go to the Control Panel, choose 'System And Security', and then click 'System', and then click the 'Advanced System Settings' link.
  2. In the opened window, click the 'Advanced' tab and then inside the 'Startup And Recovery' frame, click the 'Settings' button.
  3. In the opened 'Startup And Recovery' window, there is 'Write Debugging Information' section. You should set the combo-box in this section to 'Small memory dump', and then click 'OK' to confirm the change.
  4. Restart your PC
  5. Attempt to give the PC a BSOD - this will generate a minidump file
  6. Run the 7Forums collector tool you used before and upload the new .zip file
Thanks,

I haven't had the BSOD in a while but just got one this morning. Everything starts to slow down, the internet stops working, windows explorer slows down and eventually stops working all together, then I get the BSOD.

Hiya and welcome to SevenForums!:orb:

Yea this probably is a failing SSD as it didn't write a dump and of your symptoms. Next time you get a BSOD snap a picture of it.

Thanks for uploading this, yes your computer is not making minidumps - which isn't exactly helpful.

However please download the Samsung Magician Software: Samsung SSD Downloads | Samsung SSD

Install it and run the Disk Health Check, post the results of it when it completes.

@MistUnleashed It could be helpful if the OP have symptoms like these, it could lead to a failing harddrive.

I'm sure it is failing, so run the tools and if it dosen't work then your SSD have had it's time.
