Solved Bad startup

I am running Win 7 Home fully updated.
Last week things started to fall apart:
Many programs failed to start intermittently, if I rebooted a program would start, but another failed.
I ran ESET, Avast, Super Anti Spyware, MBAM, I use Comodo as my fire wall.
Eventually I could not boot. I tried system restore, Last known Good, Safe Mode and nothing.

I used my rescue CD and restored a Macrium Backup from a couple of weeks ago. Every thing looks normal now.... but I am not confident.

Drivers not installed:
HP Deskjet 6980, Ethernet controller,USB Controller.
I have downloaded printer driver from HP and the printer works fine
I let Windows search for drivers but the installation fails. So I don't know if I have a real problem.

Depends how you run it.
If you open a cmd window and type the command, when it finish you can see the results as the window remains open.
If you typed on the run window, when it finish you can't see the results as the window closes.
The check disk runs on next boot. Did you reboot since?

Windows Repair (All in One) might help out here, run in Safe Mode with Networking, let the program re-associate all EXE and system files, also item 26 & 27 might help. Be sure to Restart a couple of times, and let Windows and Desktop come to full rest during these two Restarts. Such very seldom failed to smooth things out for me; please let us know what happens.

OK. I ran Tweak twice and I now have the Event Viewer back, so that's a good thing.
The machine has slowed considerably however.
Thanks

That slowing down may be caused by something else; To help us help you, can you post a brief summary of exactly what activities are slow now. Also, you might want to download, install, run Piriform's Speccy, save the logs to your hard-drive, do not post them in here. Find out what startups load up, what services and what security and/or monitoring programs are running in the background.

I forgot to ask earlier - did you Restart at least twice and give Windows time to "heal and reset itself" by allowing it to come to a full desktop rest? By rest, I mean allowing all startups, services, background and foreground programs time to "heal and reset". Anytime Windows develops big problems, and anytime Windows gets help from 3rd party programs such as WR(AiO), it takes a few Restarts to smooth things out.

Thanks for all the help.
I have restarted several times.
It seems the only slowness is when I click on a folder or shortcut on the desktop. Not really a big deal.
I have installed: MBAM (but for some reason it only starts every other startup), Comodo Firewall, SAS not active only scans weekly, Avast.
An new problem...When I open a folder from the desktop it opens in reduced form not maximized as I want.

Which MBAM? Free or pay-for? Which version - 2.x or 3.x? Scuttlebutt says version 3 is problematic at the moment.

Hi,
Click the start button and type in the search box
msconfig
Go to the services section and see if you have 2 mbam services checked to start with windows.
Check the box on the bottom left to Hide all MS services to make the list shorter.
Post a screen shot of what is listed there.

Your MBAM version should be just fine -- I don't know why it only comes up the 2nd time around.
"...A new problem...When I open a folder from the desktop it opens in reduced form not maximized as I want..."
I assume you mean the window's folder's size is not maximized and/or not the same size you set previously.
Yeah, I run into that from time to time; end up having to call up my "most-useds" and manually resize my explore's folders to what I want. I have not found a permanent solution yet.

Hmmm I don't have a clue if I got the screen shot attached
Any way my msconfig looks just like the one you posted.

Hi,
Seems you have several antivirus programs installed ?
Even if Comodo is a firewall only the question is why use it ?
2 too many.PNG

Not sure what the heck the Intel entry is for ?
Go to Uninstall a program and on the top right next to the question mark switch the page view to List and post another screen shot.

For my systems I keep them clean.
No auto update anything and no scheduling of anything. I make time to do these things manually.
That way I know what I'm getting and when.

Examples fro this computer I'm using now.

I only use Avast antivirus. Comodo is the firewall.
