Battery Meter

Have a 1 year old Dell notebook. Just noticed that the battery meter is showing that it's only 49% charged. It shows that it's charging, but from time to time I would check how much and it only shows 49%. How can I correct this problem.

You just might not be able to correct.

What battery meter are you referencing?

Use SIW | Hardware | Battery to get full info on your battery.

You might try cycling the battery. Unplug it, running from the battery until it drops to about 5 to 10% or until it automatically powers down. Plug it back in to see if it passes that 49% mark and continues to 100%. Do not unplug it until you're sure it won't go any higher.

You also might check to see if Dell has any factory software on there that may be interfering with proper reporting of the battery charge level. If there is, check its configuration.

Also you can have a look around Dell's bios for a battery re-calibration cycle.

Try charging the battery with the notebook turned off & Try doing BIOS Update and check.
