Hello ! So,I was bored and I made a little test on which is better, DX 11 or Mantle, and the results kinda shocked me .

Game : Battlefield 4
Settings : 1600x900
Details : Everything on Ultra

MAP : Siege of Shanghai
Players : 64

PC I played on :

AMD FX 4100 @4.4 GHz
Hyper 212 EVO
Sapphire HD 7870 Dual X OC Edition
8 GB 1600 MHz

DX 11 RESULTS :
Frames: 2403 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 40.050 - Min: 27 - Max: 65

MANTLE RESULTS :
Frames: 3338 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 55.633 - Min: 31 - Max: 102

You can obviously see the massive AVG and MAX FPS difference. The difference in the MIN FPS isn't so huge, but hey,4 more frames :)

Hope I helped on on whether to DL the new 14.2 Catalyst ( Mantle ) update or not.In my opinion,do it if your FPS isn't so good in BF4.

Cheers :)

heres the thing. Mantle helps PC's with a weak CPU... i know from changing from my 6350 to my 3770k added alone 10fps... so it was a big difference. us guys who have better CPU's only see about a 5 FPS gain. also, with Mantle now in BF4, the graphics seem to be worse... as some screen shots are saying.

That is not entirely true. It depends on the set up. My CPU is weak, much weaker compared to your CPU, yet I didn't even get a 10fps increase. Turns out the 280x does not like mantle as much as it should and AMD will try to optimize the driver for it.

@OP:
How did you use FRAPS to benchmark BF4 on MANTLE? As far as I know, Fraps is not supporting Mantle yet.
