Hi guys

As per title. I would hope this is just a problem with the game but I rather baby my PC and would like to keep on top of any issues right away. I'm hoping this isn't one! I believe this is the first time I've seen the computer BSOD since I've had it for the last 3 months.

Please find attached my zip as per sub forum request. I am interested in understanding how to interpret this information for myself in future but as of now I have no idea. All help is appreciated.

Thank you

Hello Luke and welcome to Sevenforums! :)

A stop 0x124 is usually a hardware failure, but its scope is often wider than simple hardware.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Report back your findings and lets see if we can have victory.

Sorry no support can be given until you have a legit OS installed.

Cheers /Boris :)

You are running an HP Product ID (PID) on an ASUS board.
This makes your installation counterfeit.
Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
Code:
OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free
Registered Owner: Luke
Registered Organization:
Product ID: [COLOR="Red"]00426-OEM-8992662-00010[/COLOR] <-- HP PID on ASUS board
Original Install Date: 5/11/2015, 5:46:53 PM
System Boot Time: 25/01/2016, 6:35:37 PM
System Manufacturer: ASUS

I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

Well damn. That's what you get when you buy second hand I guess. Thanks for your help anyway guys.

Can anyone here recommend somewhere to I can pick up a genuine copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 at a reasonable price? ie. below the rrp? I ask because I'm rather thrifty with all that I buy :)

I'm not looking to purchase windows 10 since I'm not happy about Microsoft's privacy policy.

Edit: After some googling I think I'm keen to pick up a copy of Windows 10 (ideally the USB stick). If anyone can recommend a reasonably priced retailer when I could pick this up that would be great.

I appreciate anyone's recommendations. It looks like this issue is going to cost me money after all

You won't find any genuine Windows 7 Retail or System Builders OEM on sale in Australia - they don't exist.

Well after some googling about windows 10 privacy issues and how to turn them off I'm probably going to go with W10. However I hope it doesn't mess with my games!

Anyway if someone could recommend a place to pick up a reasonabley priced copy of W10 that would be great. (Ideally the USB version).

Thanks a bunch!

Thank you. However if someone here knows a place where you can pick up a copy that is more competitively priced that would great. As I mentioned earlier I like to be thrifty with my purchases and I'm just seeing if anyone knows a good priced retailer.

I seem to have found it at most places for $160 AUD inc.shipping at the moment. If anyone knows of somewhere cheaper that would be awesome sauce :)

Well to be fair you were the one who posted the information that lead to the conclusion that it wasn't genuine, if you had done some research then you could have been a bit more cautious.

However I do understand the seduction of leaning towards the piracy world.

Yeah, I get that. However as I mentioned in a previous post I bought the computer second hand 3 months ago and was not aware the system was running a pirated OS. I'm not devastated by this as it's an excellent machine I got at a great price.

Point being is now my system is harassing me constantly about the situation before I've gotten the money together to go out and grab windows 10, when I didn't know the OS was non genuine. Understandably there will be those who don't believe that but that doesn't negate the truth.

So I would like to say thank you to the hero who thought it necessary to report my system like this. I'm sure Microsoft with their net profit in the billions of dollars this quarter will appreciate your faithful service to them. The world needs more people like you, rest assured.

Peace guys, I'm out.

Peace guys, I'm out.

Nobody here reported your system, it was inevitable that Microsoft's activation servers would catch it.

It just took a while for them to notice, your install date shows November of last year,

Code:
Original Install Date: 5/11/2015, 5:46:53 PM

That's not uncommon for it to take a few months.

There really is no way to report someone's system as you think happened, not sure how you would even begin to try that.

They have ways to contact them if you are a victim of counterfeiting,

How to tell

You will spend a lot more time and money looking for a discounted Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
Just go to a proper retail outlet and buy it.

I buy all my Microsoft operating system for a local well known computer store in my town. Pay full retail and have never had a problem.

To save $10.00 isn't worth the head aches, what if's, or maybes.
