180GB is a strange size. I have two 5 year old Intel SSDs. They have been working to this day. Intel has a good reputation in SSD landd.

I agree with you, $185. is the suggested retail price in your link. Amazon has it for $135. Reviews on Amazon are 58 out of 67 rated at 5 stars.

On the AnandTech site, it states this SSD has a "SandForce SF-2281" Controller, is this going to be a problem ?

There were problems with early sandforce controllers. But I think they fixed that. Have not seen any complaints lately.

It is a good price, but 480GB is too big for me. I see the 240GB model is down to $120. again.
I have been waiting for the price of it on Amazon to drop as it has been $140. for the past two weeks or more.

I did pickup a couple of those 240 gigs a few days ago. Just saving them for later.
Been thinking on the 480 gigs but I can't think of what I would use them for.
Both are intended for commercial use with a 5 year warranty.

They have Intel's own enterprise controller.

I hear what you mean, its a lot of real-estate to have sitting free. I just checked Amazon for the Intel 730 model its $140. but the drawback is it is not sold by Amazon, only shipped by them.

I hate to say it, the Newegg price at $120. is looking good to me.

Unless they are a really smoking deal (like, say, 50% off), I don't buy HDDs and SSDs until I actually need them. Prices keep going down and better models keep coming out. Also, any drive not in use is wasting warranty (yes, I'm that cheap). It doesn't take long to get a replacement delivered so there is no point in having spares (unless they're for business machines).

On another forum, a poster from Thailand said the floods were nowhere near the factories.

Somebody on the PC help forum just asked whether he should buy this laptop for $399. I think it is a damn good deal.

Intel i5 - 2.6 to 3.1GHz
8GB of RAM
1.5TB HDD
Intel Iris graphics - which is currently the fastest graphics chip

If you need a laptop, this one is hard to beat for the price. Take the HDD out and put it into a caddy and replace it with a 250GB SSD for under $100 and you have a really nice laptop. Alternatively replace the optical reader with a SSD.
