It's hard to give advice on this -- especially these days as a lot of people are buying tablets and lower priced laptops -- I regard myself as a decent power user - yet I find a standard 14 inch HP laptop with 8GB RAM and an i5 processor more than enough for me -- I don't want a huge 17 inch laptop -- to heavy for travel and I have a few desktops at home anyway -- so my maximum spend on a laptop would be around 4 - 600 USD - and for around 600 USD you can get quite a decent laptop -- so for your budget - I can't really advise you.
perhaps list down what you want the laptop to do and whether it's a laptop that you would use on the move or a "desktop replacement".

I want to have two performance systems available. I already choose the XPS 8700 as my desktop choice so I want something that has the same or more performance than the laptop. I know that since all those parts have to be cramped in there so I will raise my budget to $1500.
Here is my list of required components:
• A 4th Gen Quad Core i7 Processor
• Dedicated graphics (Nvidia is preferred)
• A 256gb ssd or 128/256gb SSD with a 5400rpm HDD combo or a 7200 rpm drive (Least preferred)

So I'm guessing the ASUS would be better because it is more gaming optimized which I do need. I do not care about the size and weight because all I want is PERFORMANCE and I will do any sacrifice for it (except for money unless there is a big deal for that laptop)

Perhaps look at MSI. They do come with W8 but under support all W7 drivers are offered for download. Some do offer combo SSD , 7200 spinner setups.

Just a note from personal experience ......... I have the Asus G74Sx and am extremely happy with it. I travel extensively in my work and while a bit on the hefty side this machine has been a dream. Powerful and robust. I'm in the market for a higher end laptop myself and have been looking around. The MSI caught my eye and I will be looking closer at it but as of now...... I'm overjoyed (NOT an over statement) at the quality of my Asus. Near constant bangs, bumps and one 4 foot drop and no problems with it at all.
