Big difference in Internet Speed.

I have just upgraded to OPTUS 100Mbps Docsis3 cable.
Modem is Cisco DPQ3212c,Router TP-Link WR1034ND.
Desktop I get 95Mbps Download with a Gigabit Nic.
Laptop I get 26Mbps Download with a 10/100 Nic. (Wired connection)
Would I get better results with the Laptop if I Used a USB Gigabit Nic or a Gigabit Express card?

Acording to quick research Express cards are based off PCI or USB 2.0 and there is no speed difference on either host(While Using Express cards).

But personally I would go with the express card. I woud much rather have the device mostly be in my laptop than sticking out. (Less chance to destroy an usb port)

I agree with that,but will it get me a faster download speed than with the 10/100 inbuit Nic?
Just checked and it is a Type II PC card slot NOT an Express
