BIOS problem

I have an old machine that I use for testing and during setting up a dual boot I had to change the boot order. Now it worked the first time but the dual boot did not set up so I went back and tried setting the boot order again - no luck.
I replaced the CMOS battery and following the change I cannot set the date as in it is the 23rd September 2017 but the moment I set other things such as boot order the date reverts back to the 1st September 2017. Am now having problems getting into the BIOS and I am wondering if the thing is bricked especially after the issue I had with the date just a bit earlier.

Any ideas most welcome.


Edit: Have sorted the date it is in US time config and we use day/month but the thing is still not booting to anything.

no Mitchell mate it just beeps the once so I know the RAM is ok but it just sits there with the Intel screen and the options for BIOS Boot menu etc I just cannot get into the BIOS.

Have tried inserting the OEM disk - nothing doesn't even get it whirring and clicking away just seems to have lost any options of where to boot from.

As I said I was setting up a dual boot of Ubuntu and 7 the 7 already being on the machine and it did boot into Ubuntu the once from the Yumi stick and then after a restart to test whether I was getting a choice between the Ubuntu and 7 - nothing.

I did previously have Zorin on as a dual boot and had left it alone a for some time and on trying it again found it was really screwed up after a software update which left me wondering what they had done to Zorin because it was running really well and hence my change of mind for a Ubuntu which I have used before so I know it is stable as far as I know anyway.

But as luck will have it my spare desktop that my son had built and didn't want anymore which was also not working I rigged up and now is working and simply because I think borrowing the CMOS battery for the tester has reset it to Gigabytes default settings and now is working fine.
All the same I want to get the tester working as I do test a fair but of free software's on it from time to time. So I am just wondering if the BIOS was bricked surely I wouldn't get that Intel screen or would I?
